Comments are a great way to interact with other people, engage in discussions, and share your opinion.
One of the most popular ways for people to interact online is through YouTube.
You can comment on videos you have watched or have found interesting. Comments are an easy way to let someone know what you think!
When you see a highlighted comment on a video, it means that it has been approved by the video’s owner for public viewing. This is how comments work on YouTube.
What Does Highlighted Comment Mean On YouTube?

How to Make Comment Highlighted?
Before delving into what the highlighted comment means, let’s talk about how to make your comment highlighted.
The easiest way to make your comment highlighted is to click the reply button under the comment and hit the “share button.”
Once that’s done, the comment will turn into a reply, highlighted in red. When you’re commenting under a video on YouTube, the “share” button looks like a button that looks similar to a share button on Facebook.
Making your comment pinned means that it’s displayed at the top of the comment section — or on the right side of the comment if you’re using a mobile device.
The pinned comment is a reply that you can click to keep the comment pinned to the video. You can also use this tool to reply to comments that you can’t answer.
Who Can Highlight a Comment?
To begin with, who can highlight a comment?
Only YouTubers and members of the YouTube community are allowed to make highlighted or even pinned comments.
As for public members, they’re strictly forbidden from highlighting and/or pinning comments on YouTube videos.
In other words, only verified and community members can make pinned comments.
And if you’re a member of the YouTube community, then you’re completely free to make a highlighted comment on a video.
Pinning a comment means you agree to add it to the top of a YouTube video.
However, it’s not as easy as it sounds — a commenter must have signed up with YouTube before they can pin a comment.
They must also be subscribed to your channel before the pinned comment will be shown in the comment section.
How to Highlighted Comments URL?
Whether you’re running out of space in your comment section or your browser doesn’t show enough spaces, you can highlight the comment link so that it’s visible to a certain extent even if you don’t click on it.
To highlight a comment, first, open the comments tab of a YouTube video that you’ve posted and click on the ‘comments’ link.
Next, click on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen and select the ‘pinned’ option from the drop-down menu. You can also highlight comments if you’re logged in, or you have a Premium YouTube account.
Pin Comment! If you don’t want to highlight a comment, you can choose to pin a comment instead, making it available to all of your followers on the platform.
How to Undo a Highlighted Comment?
When you’re watching a video on YouTube, you will encounter a red box indicating a comment that needs to be seen.
This appears in the upper right corner of the video, and it looks exactly like the button you’re used to seeing on Facebook.
Clicking this will show you a preview of the comment box, letting you know that you can either “Like” it or “Delete” it.
To undo a highlighted comment, click on the comment box, and it will show a sign that says “Recall” with a blue arrow.
Clicking this will save your comment and let it expire as it should.
When you click on a person’s name in a comment, you’ll see a red circle with an exclamation mark inside.
What is the purpose of Highlighted Comments?
Although we didn’t mention it in the first part of this series, Highlighted Comments are essential for YouTubers.
They are shown right below the title of your videos. Thus, your comment will be the first thing your viewers see when they click on your video.
They’ll spend a minute or two scrolling down to your comment. It’s your chance to get the viewers hooked on your video. Thus, make sure to keep it interesting.
For example, if you’re talking about a product or idea, then say as much. If you’re debating with someone about some controversial issue, make sure you use facts and statistics in your comment.
Benefits of Highlighted Comments
Highlighted comments are those that show up in users’ feeds in a prominent manner, with the headings at the top and in the description box indicating their contents.
They’re commonly seen in reviews and recommendations. A brief overview of how they work:
When a user clicks the highlighted comment, they’ll be taken to the video’s description page and will be able to select the comment they’d like to appear as a poster on their video.
Here, the comment will show up in a large font, surrounded by the video’s description box.
Users can click on the star symbol at the top of the column to view the full comment, and they’ll be taken back to the video’s description page. Highlighted comments can be great for discovery.
